KeptIndex

Press room · figures as of 2026-10-27

Companies set the deadlines. Here is how often they meet them.

KeptIndex records the dated commitments U.S.-listed companies announce in press releases filed with the SEC, then checks public evidence after each deadline. Every figure on this page is recomputed with each update, carries its sample size, and can be traced to individual filings.

Key findings

77%of confirmed outcomes were delivered by the deadline the company setn = 5,556, confirmed outcomes (met, late, partly met, not met, withdrawn)
13%arrived late or only in partn = 5,556, confirmed outcomes
10%were not delivered or were withdrawnn = 5,556, confirmed outcomes
32 daysmedian delay when a commitment was laten = 353, confirmed late deliveries dated to the day
31%of passed deadlines left no public record either way (never counted as failure)n = 10,651, all checked commitments
5%of commitments had their deadline pushed later in a later filingn = 14,170, all published commitments

Only confirmed outcomes count: checked by a named person (3 of the outcomes counted here; 4 across all outcomes, including superseded and condition-not-met entries) or by independent checks that agreed on primary SEC or regulator evidence. Unconfirmed outcomes are shown on their entries but excluded here. Where the public record is silent after a deadline, we say so; silence is never counted as a miss. Definitions: methodology and data quality.

Story leads: S&P 500 deadlines in the next 90 days

What large companies said they would deliver soon, in their own filed words. These are open commitments, not findings: nothing here says a company will miss. Each links to the original SEC filing. The full list is on Upcoming deadlines, and a weekly digest goes out in This week.

Recently confirmed outcomes, S&P 500

Outcomes that meet our featuring standard: confirmed, and any “not met” or “withdrawn” finding confirmed by a person or by three agreeing independent checks. Every company is notified and may reply before a negative finding is published (right of reply).

Using KeptIndex in your reporting

Cite a single commitment

Every entry has a permanent identifier that never changes, even after corrections, such as KI-C-2026-NVDA-000417, at keptindex.org/c/<identifier>/. Suggested credit: “Source: KeptIndex (keptindex.org), from SEC filings.”

Check our work

Each entry quotes the company's filed words and links to the SEC filing and an archived copy. The evidence used to decide the outcome is linked on the same page, with how it was confirmed and when.

Ask for data

Reporters can request a company's full record, a sector cut or a custom query free of charge for publication. Write to contact@keptindex.org with your deadline. Researchers: see the Open Research Dataset.

Our standards

  • We record only dated, verifiable commitments a company itself filed with the SEC, quoted word for word.
  • A deadline that passes with no public evidence is reported as “no public record”, not as a failure.
  • Companies are notified before a negative finding is published and can reply or correct the record. Every change is logged on What changed.
  • Kept Score™ is not yet public. It will be published only once each company's record has been checked deeply enough to support it; the definition is fixed in advance on the Kept Score page.
  • Anyone can challenge an entry through corrections.
